About the event
Closed for Juneteenth | Friday, June 19, 2026
Our office will be closed on Friday, June 19, 2026, in observance of Juneteenth.
Juneteenth is observed each year on June 19 and commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in 1865. Its history traces back to January 1, 1863, when President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation. More than two years later, on June 19, 1865, Union Army General Gordon Granger arrived in Texas and issued General Order No. 3, enforcing the freedom of enslaved people in the last remaining Confederate holdout state.
In 2021, Juneteenth was officially recognized as a federal holiday when President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law.
As we observe this important day, we pause to reflect on our nation's history, honor the significance of freedom and equality, and recognize Juneteenth's enduring impact on generations of Americans.
We encourage everyone to take…
